Philippians 1:12-18

  1. Generally speaking, who are some people in your life you would consider partners and what makes their partnership so important?
  2. Paul provides a ministry update for his gospel partners in Philippi starting in Philippians 1:12; based on what we’ve learned so far, what was the nature of the Philippians’ partnership with Paul why do you think this ministry update is so important for the Philippians to hear?
  3. How are you partnering with gospel-advancing workers and what impact does their ministry have in the lives of those they serve and on your own heart?
  4. Paul makes a claim that the gospel advanced not despite his suffering, but that his suffering is serving to advance the gospel, how does this affect your current thinking about the role of suffering in your life?
  5. How risky do you think it was for Paul to share the gospel daily with Roman guards? Why do you think he did it and what can you learn from him?
  6. As a result of Paul’s boldness, there was a ripple effect to his gospel proclamation that impacted the household of Caesar (Philippians 4:22). Who are the unbelievers God has put in your life? If you were to share the gospel with them and God transformed their hearts, what could the ripple effect be and who would be the people that might be affected by that transformation? (Name people, by name)
  7. Paul demonstrated confidence, boldness, and fearlessness to proclaim the gospel which had an impact on believers in his proximity that caused them to have confidence, boldness, and fearlessness to share the Word of God. Who are the people you know who demonstrate these kinds of characteristics? How can you learn from them the way the Roman believers learned from Paul?
  8. Paul says that no matter the circumstances if the gospel is proclaimed he rejoices (Philippians 1:18). How can God use your current circumstances to open the door to proclaim the gospel in someone’s life?
  9. Is there anything the Holy Spirit is prompting you to do as a result of this study?
  10. Spend some time in prayer for confidence, boldness, and fearlessness to proclaim the gospel to people we want to see experience transformation in Jesus Christ.
