What Is the Mercantile?
Open to all on Public Assistance
- SNAP
- Food Stamps
- WIC
- HEAP
- Medicaid
- SSI
What May I receive?
- “$10” Credit once a month. Each item is assigned a value of “Mercantile Money”. You are allowed to have “$10 worth of Mercantile a money a month.
- Available: Clothing, Shoes, Small Household Items, Bedding, Towels, Cleaning Supplies and Non-Perishable Food.
When May I Visit?
- The first time you may come any Friday we are open.
- The Mercantile is Open Most Fridays from 11 am – 3 pm
- Then you will be assigned either the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Friday of the month to come and “shop.” We are closed the 5th Friday of the month.
- Location: Oswego Alliance Church Community Center, 370 Thompson Rd, Oswego NY
aRE THERE SPECIAL tIMES WHEN THE mERCANTILE IS cLOSED?
- Most months have 4 Fridays and those months the Mercantile will be open every Friday. When a month has 5 Fridays, the Mercantile will be closed on the 5th Friday of the month. This year, 2025, the Mercantile will be closed May 30th, August 29th and October 31st.
- We are also closed Friday July 4th, the Friday of VBS, July 18, the Friday after Thanksgiving November 28th, and the Friday after Christmas, December 26th.
- During the Winter Weather if Oswego City Schools are closed, we are closed.
